OolayumBot

OolayumBot is how Oolayum keeps meal prices up to date. It identifies itself as OolayumBot and links to this page.

What it reads

  • Restaurants' own public menu pages, websites and online ordering pages, as any visitor sees them.
  • From those pages it keeps only dish names and prices, which are facts. It doesn't keep descriptions, photos or page designs.
  • A few of those prices show on Oolayum's map and restaurant pages, labelled “From the restaurant” (“their website, read” and the date), and never as checked by a person. A price shows only where the restaurant's own menu data and its page agree.
  • It never signs in, orders or checks out, and it never collects anyone's personal information.
  • On an online ordering page it keeps only what the page itself loads about the menu: dish names, prices and menu sections, and the store's street address. It doesn't load the page's images, video or known analytics.

How it behaves

  • It follows robots.txt, including Crawl-delay.
  • It reads a restaurant's menu at most about once a day, and waits between pages on the same site.
  • It never solves CAPTCHAs, never hides what it is, and stops reading any site that blocks it.
  • It doesn't read delivery apps.

Stop it reading your site

Add User-agent: OolayumBot / Disallow: / to your robots.txt, or email hello@oolayum.com with your site's address. We stop reading it as soon as we receive your request, remove the menu text we stored from it, and take down any price we showed from it.

Restaurant owners can also ask us to correct a price, or send us their menu directly, at the same address.
